Dr Helen Beaumont

beaumont-hWelcome to Congress, by the President of the Faculty.

I am President of the Faculty of Homeopathy having been elected in March 2014. This is the second congress I have had the privilege to organise and lead along with a fantastic group of enthusiastic committed colleagues.

After qualifying from Birmingham Medical School in 1983, I trained in general practice and have been involved in general practice in Solihull for over 20 years.

Homeopathy has been in my blood since 1995 having trained with HPTG in Oxford and gained my specialist registration in 2006. In 2011 I was awarded fellowship of the Faculty in recognition of my commitment and contribution to homeopathy. I have a private homeopathic practice as well as a hospital practitioner post at Bristol Homeopathic Hospital interspersed with the occasional GP locum to keep my hand in. I have studied with Sankaran in India on several occasions and continue my own professional development with a mixture of seminars and peer group supervision.

I have always been passionate about medical education and the importance of having a congress where everyone can come together to meet, chat and learn more about homeopathy in an enriched environment. Having taught in Oxford for several years I have now been teaching in Bristol since 2006. Teaching medical students at both Birmingham and Bristol University has been an exciting opportunity to expand knowledge of homeopathy to a wider audience of potential doctors. In 2012 -2015 I took over as Academic Director of the Bristol Homeopathic Hospital, running postgraduate courses in homeopathic medicine. Having been an examiner for the faculty for several years, both here in the UK and India, 5 years ago I was appointed to the Examination Board.

Enthusiasm, energy and a real love of homeopathy are fundamental to my role as president, plus walking my dog and gardening to relax!
